Brief Description of the Project: Suaahara is comprehensive, community-focused project dedicated to improving the health and nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of two. Moreover, it also works on influencing positive behavioral changes through planned communication campaigns in all over the District.
Major outcomes achieved/ Implementation Success/Major Achievements:
  • A total of 23 district-based journalists, 20 municipality-level stakeholders, and 2,110 VDC-level stakeholders in Rolpa were oriented on the Suaahara program. Additionally, 49 CBO representatives, 39 teachers, 52 child club members, and 18 FCHVs were introduced to the Clean House Concept under the WASH initiative.
  • Twelve government staff from DADO/DLSO and 15 field supervisors received 6-day HFP DTOT training. In 12 DAG VDCs, 108 VMFs were selected, 104 VMFs were trained through a 5-day HFP program, and 1,121 individuals participated in a 2-day HFP roll-out training. Additionally, 1,080 chicks were distributed to the selected 108 VMFs, and 845 seed sachets were provided to VMFs, FCHVs, and mothers of 1,000-day households in the 12 DAG VDCs.
  • Twelve field supervisors and 11 LGCDP social mobilizers from 12 DAG VDCs were trained in a 5-day BA/SMG training. A total of 3,043 participants from 147 REFLECT sessions organized during CAC meetings acquired practical and theoretical knowledge on social mobilization and governance. The REFLECT concept was linked with the BA radio program, and 2,738 members of 108 ward citizen forums (WCF) received orientation on INP.
  • A total of 265 individuals—including 218 health workers, 47 non-health workers received 6-day training on MIYCN/SBCC-VLT. Additionally, 352 individuals (321 FCHVs and 31 LGCDP social mobilizers) participated in a 5-day MIYCN/SBCC-CLT training, and 9,883 individuals engaged in 1-day ward-level interactions on INP.
  • Various awareness days were celebrated, including World Breastfeeding Week, World Egg Day, National Family Planning Day, and Global Hand washing Day, FCHVs Day, and Iodine Month.
