Brief Description of the Project:
The project was implemented across the Rolpa district in response to the community's demand, particularly in areas suffering from water scarcity and inadequate water supply for drinking and other uses. The project's primary goal was to address water supply issues while also empowering marginalized households by enhancing their skills and competencies in vegetable farming and other income-generating activities.
Major outcomes achieved/ Implementation Success:
  • Three solar-powered Multiple Use Water Systems (MUS) were implemented, providing both drinking water and irrigation services.
  • 225 households in rained areas gained access to sufficient drinking water.
  • Through the MUS schemes, 175 households received water for vegetable production, utilizing drip irrigation technology.
  • Following the provision of irrigation water, 225 households received technical training in vegetable farming and began cultivating vegetables for both home consumption and sale.
  • Farmers were connected to existing vegetable collection centers, enabling them to sell their produce and improve their livelihoods through increased income.
