Brief Description of the Project:
The project was implemented to support rural communities by promoting small scale enterprise primarily on local NTFP- Lokta and Allo in selected sites of VDCs and help support income generation of poor and vulnerable people particularly women. It also helped generating job opportunities in Lokta and Allo processing and Nepali paper production enterprises. |
Major outcomes achieved/ Implementation Success:
- Formed and empowered Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs) in enterprise development using local plants such as Lokta and Allo. Constructed a community building to facilitate regular meetings and social functions.
- Supported the plantation of Lokta on approximately 1 hectare and trained 11 women entrepreneurs in the production of Allo and Lokta.
- Established a Nepali paper production enterprise, creating regular job opportunities for 3 community members. Additionally, set up 2 enterprises focused on producing handmade clothing from Allo and Lokta.
- Distributed 25 solar and improved cooking stoves to poor and vulnerable households to enhance energy access.
- Strengthened the institutional capacity of CFUGs.
- Conducted awareness-raising activities on environmental conservation, including orientation sessions on global environmental issues and soil conservation techniques for eroded lands.
